Passengers with a Business Class ticket for an airberlin long-haul flight can celebrate: the first Airbus A330-200 with a further improved Business Class will take off in April.
The comfortable FullFlat seats that recline to a 180-cm sleeping surface will be successively replaced by a new model, which offers more storage space, thus providing passengers with greater travel comfort. The new Business Class also has a surprising colour palette: the seats are in an elegant black with leather accents. The carpet throughout the airberlin long-haul cabin will also be black. In combination with wood elements in the galley, even more emphasis will be placed on the premium character of the Business Class.
For five months, airberlin has offered its passengers a Business Class on short- & medium-haul flights as well. And it has been very well received. “Soon we will welcome our 100,000th passenger in our European Business Class. This exceeds all our expectations. We are now evaluating options to expand the service,” said Götz Ahmelmann, CCO of airberlin. The Business Class is particularly popular on domestic flights within Germany as well as on feeder flights to long-haul connections taking off from Berlin and Dusseldorf.”
The Economy Class in the long-haul aircraft will also be visually refreshed. The comfortable headrests with fold-out side elements for added support when sleeping will be replaced by a new version in red leather. The XL seats will be visually identifiable by the “butterscotch”-coloured headrests. airberlin offers its passengers on long-haul flights 46 XL seats with 20 percent more legroom and thus the largest seat pitch on intercontinental flights in Economy Class.
Passengers who book a long-haul flight in Economy Class with airberlin can now choose from more than 20 meals from 17 different trendy restaurants. The favourite among airberlin passengers on the airgusto menu is the Indian Butter Chicken by popular Dusseldorf restaurant “Kirtis Dhaba”. The multi-course meals are most often ordered on flights to New York City and Miami.
To ensure that the taste and texture of the meals is of the exact same quality at 10,000 metres altitude as if you were sitting in the restaurant in Berlin, Dusseldorf, New York City or Abu Dhabi, particular attention is paid to the quality and freshness. The dishes are prepared according to the partner restaurants’ original recipes and are tasted by chefs who specialise in airline catering. The meals are then loaded onto the aircraft under strict security and hygiene standards and served on-board on porcelain dishes. airberlin is standardising the names for the service elements it offers. The exclusive waiting areas will now be called aircafé. The name goes hand in hand with the restaurant service airgusto on long-haul flights and the airbistro menu on short- and medium-haul flights.
The already available free Internet access will be simplified. “Surveys have shown that our passengers would like the registration process to be more intuitive. We promptly implemented this with our provider to offer our passengers the best possible service,” said Ahmelmann about the changes.
In addition, passengers have access to a digital offer of more than 150 newspapers and magazines. The titles are available in German, English, French, Italian and Arabic. All topbonus members with a Silver, Gold or Platinum status card, as well as passengers with a flight ticket in Business Class or in the Economy Flex fare have access to aircafé.
