Note from editor Sara Waxman: It's been a watershed year. "2020 vision" is a lens into the fog of the unknown. What we can rely on is our collective resiliency to adapt. We're so proud of the ingenuity of local chefs, restaurateurs, our favourite shops, and regional tourism organizations to pivot toward higher standards, enabling us to feel some sense of comfort and normality.
At DINE, we too, have had to be creative this year. We've transitioned to a digital format with embedded videos and time-sensitive content including Toronto's eclectic and safe options for dining out and ordering in; stay-at-home decorating and socially distanced travel; the state of the Canadian restaurant industry to that of the Canadian film industry. We've included a letter from John Tory, Mayor of the City of Toronto, and a letter from Ito Takako, Consul General of Japan. And we're sure you'll agree the recipients of this year's DINE Awards are truly inspirational.
We are filled with gratitude to all front line, essential workers, and all those who keep us going and keep us safe. In this inaugural issue of DINE we have donated each page in recognition of the talent and hard work of everyone within. We hope you'll click on it and enjoy.
Wishing you all good health and good cheer,
Sara Waxman & Adam Waxman
