For Cheese Fanatics! There's a World Fondue Competition in Tartegnin, Switzerland

Switzerland’s favorite dish takes the stage this fall with The World Fondue Competition, which is held every other year and brings together leading chefs and experts in the field. This is the third time this unique event has been held and it will take place November 15-17, 2019 in the charming village of Tartegnin, situated in the heart of the La Côte wine-growing area between Morges and Nyon.

Professionals and amateur cooks will demonstrate their skills at the caquelon (fondue pot) and create their own mixture consisting of at least 50% Gruyère AOP. For out-of-town visitors, eight hotels in the region will offer a package deal. The offer includes one overnight stay and a “Fondue World Championship Pass” (one fondue, one glass with holder and content) for CHF 99.00 per person in a 3-star hotel (CHF 119.00.- in a 4-star establishment).

The Lake Geneva Region (Canton of Vaud) is located in the French-speaking part of Western Switzerland, a timeless, picture-postcard destination of classic mountain beauty, refined cuisine and legendary hotels. Visitors come for wine tastings in the Lavaux vineyards, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. They dine in celebrated Michelin-starred restaurants and local brasseries and visit lively farmers markets. Outdoor opportunities range from hiking and biking to sailing and swimming in Lake Geneva. Major ski resorts include Les Diablerets, Villars and Leysin. The region is famed for the Vallée de Joux, the center of Swiss watchmaking, and for such unforgettable museums as Chaplin’s World and The Olympic Museum.
