New Ukrainian Tourism Hero Yanina Gavrilova Stands for Resilience and Tourist Guides

The head of the Ukrainian Tourist Guide Association, Yanina Garvrilova represents what tourist guides all over the world do best, and sometimes against all odds and with a passion that represents the best of tourism and its importance as a resilient peace industry.

Yanina Gavriolova leads the Ukrainian Tourist Guides Association and has worked tirelessly through impossible times to keep tourism alive, and meaningful in this worn-torn country.


If anyone in the world represents resilience in the travel and tourism industry from a practical perspective, it is Yanina Gavriolova.

Juergen Steinmetz, Chairman of the World Tourism Network congratulated Yanina for the important role and leadership she gives to tourism in Ukraine and for many parts of the world where tourist guides work hard under challenging circumstances to make the world a better place.

Yanina thanked WTN for this recognition and invited Juergen to visit Ukraine soonest, which he said he would proudly accept in the near future.


Leadership in Extreme Conditions: As the Chairwoman of the Ukrainian Tourist Guides Association, Yanina has demonstrated exceptional leadership. She successfully led the organization during the extremely challenging conditions of war. She has not only preserved the Association but also developed it, ensuring its continuous operation in such difficult circumstances.


Yanina Gavriolova is the third Tourism Hero recognized by the World Tourism Network.


Dedication to Tourism Development: Yanina actively works on developing Ukraine’s tourism industry, particularly in training new guides. This contributes to enriching the country’s tourism offerings and improving the quality of tourist services.

These routes allow us to pay tribute to the heroes and tell the world the truth about the war.

World Tourism Network is recognizing Yanina Gavrilova’s outstanding achievements and contribution to the development of Ukrainian tourism. The Ukrainian Tourist Guides Association (UTGA) is a professional organization that unites guides across Ukraine. UTGA guides play a vital role in developing tourism in Ukraine and providing tourists with information and services.Due to the war, UTGA has faced serious challenges. Many guides have been forced to leave their homes and relocate to other regions of Ukraine or abroad.Others have had to suspend their activities due to the lack of tourists and seek other employment.


There are many heroes in the travel and tourism industry not yet recognized, but the World Tourism Network is ready to recognize the best and the finest, regardless of country, affiliation, or rank.


The Heroes Award by the World Tourism Network recognizes people in the global travel and tourism industry. The nomination and the award are free and open to anyone.
